Keep Radio 106.3 FM Weekend Sports Preview 03/4/02/2024.

Keep Radio 106.3 FM Local Sports Bulletin 5 40 pm on Robbie Mott’s Drive Time afternoon show, Monday & Friday:

Action from round 1 of the Ridgeway Rumble at Coburg Road where the Seahorses emerged 15 points to 13 winners.

Weymouth Football Club’s senior men’s team can make it 4 National League South victories on the spin at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday where they meet visitors Hemel Hempstead.

The Tuders are in 10th place in the league table and have tallied up 5 league points more than the Terras who are currently in 16th, however Weymouth have played 2 games fewer so if the game runs to form the Terras could narrow the margin to 2 league points and move nearer to the National League play off places.

Dorchester visit Didcot for a Southern Premier league fixture; Portland are also on the road and travel to the Kendall Stadium to play Baffin’s Milton Rovers.

In the Southwest Peninsular East Bridport play Torridgeside away.

In the local rugby, Tribute Southern Counties League Weymouth & Portland rugby club’s senior men’s team play hosts to neighbours Dorchester for round 2 of the Ridgeway Rumble and the County Town will be eager to avenge their 15 points to 13 defeat at the hands of the Seahorses earlier in the season and in the same division Swanage & Wareham visit Walcot.

In the Dorset & Wilts leagues Blandford entertain Oakmeadians at Larksmead and Dorchester second team lock horns with Swanage & Wareham a xv at Coburg Road.

On Sunday Weymouth & Portland Rugby Club’s women’s team play their first home game at Monmouth Avenue since their recent re-formation against Sherborne women.

Weymouth Football Club’s ladies play at the Bob Lucas Stadium against Frome ladies and Bridport Football Club’s women’s side welcome Coombe St Nicholas at St Mary’s with all 3 of these matches kicking off at 2 00pm.

Dorset & Wilts news.

On Saturday, DW was invited to attend another Women Rugby Inner Warrior Camp. This one was hosted by Oakmeadians RFC . The session was great fun and consisted of brand new players and regular Oaks players.

The team and coaches were very welcoming, and they all gave a strong team spirit vibe. They focused on passing and then built up into games. Starting with walking rugby, then touch rugby then semi contact. It was a great way to build confident and knowledge! If anyone is from the area and wants to give rugby a go, Oakmeadians are accepting new players all abilities. They train on Tuesdays at 7pm. If you are keen, send them a message on their socials!

Next club visit is the Women’s team at Warminster Rugby Football Club

So stay turned!
