Following 3 successful years in the hot seat, retiring president John Constable presented his successor Stuart Murrow with the Salver of office at Salisbury club on Wednesday evening
Wildash Bowden Award.
Former RFU & Dorset & Wilts president Willie Wildash said:
“Arthur and I first presented this trophy for the Dorset & Wilts Club Volunteer of the Year ten years ago. At that time there was very little recognition of Club volunteers, particularly those who had served their Clubs for many years and so were sometimes taken for granted. Past recipients
2007 Gordon and Celia Glover Lytchett Minster
2008 Rodney and Joyce Adams Marlborough
2009 Mike Trew Sherborne
2010 Mickey White S & W
2011 Andrew & Nicola Walton Oakmeadians
2012 Philip & Abbey Kennedy Wheatsheaf CC
2013 Barry & Jud Maidment Wimborne
2014 Ed & Jane Gardiner Colerne
2015 Joy & David Pentney Blandford
2016 Chris Elias Royal Wootton Bassett
This year’s recipient is Stuart King he has been Treasurer of the Bridport Rugby Football Club for 28 years and by all accounts (please excuse the pun) will probably carry on for another 28!
As well as keeping the Clubs finances in extraordinary good shape Stuart, being typical of many volunteers of his generation, has also managed to find the time to take on other roles within the Bridport Club. This splendid pewter salver is now engraved with his name and should ensure that his contribution is recognised when it is displayed in the Bridport Clubhouse”.
