The Seasiders visit East Dorset rugby club tomorrow (Saturday 04/03/2017) & according to manager Vaughan Carter they just don’t know what to expect.

 

He said: “They have only won two games this season & we put almost 100 points on them @ home in the league then 7 days later @ their place we struggled to beat them in a cup match when on their narrow pitch where they tucked the ball up their shirts & frustrated our lads as we prefer to play an open running game & we kept giving away stupid penalties & it almost cost us the result”.

 

Weymouth & Portland currently lying in 5th place in South West Division One South winning 10 of their 16 outings & with a tally of 46 points welcome back flanker George Carter 10 weeks after he had an operating to repair a damaged tendon in his hand his presence @ the break down has been missing, but he is now 100% fit & champing @ the bit to make his presence felt.

 

The squad will not be finalised until Friday, but it should look something like this;

Weymouth & Portland second xv entertain Wimborne 3rds @ Monmouth Avenue’ both games kick off @ 2.15pm.

 

Last Sunday a squad of boys & girls from Weymouth & Portland entered the 02 Touch Rugby Festival @ Harlequin’s Stoop ground in London before attending the England Italy 6 Nations International @ Twickenham.

 

Club chairman Ian McMillan said: “The boys & girls managed to get to the semi finals & eventually finished third, it was a great experience for them playing @ the Stoop & then going to Twickenham made their day, we are always looking the add to our squad of touch players so if anyone is interested just turn up at the club in Monmouth Avenue on Sunday mornings & we will make them welcome”.
