Weymouth & Portland Rugby Club Press Release.

18/01/2017.

After 3 defeats on the spin the Seasiders intend to return to winning ways at Chapel Gate tomorrow (Saturday) when they visit Bournemouth to lock horns with the East Dorset club’s third team.

First team manager Vaughan Carter said: “I don’t want to harp on about injuries again, all squads suffer from injuries & we are no different when you are denied selecting a player through injury it provides an opportunity for someone else to show his worth & on Saturday young prop Tom Wildman gets the nod into the starting xv”.

“Tom’s dad Mark played in the front row for the club back in the 1980’s & 90’s & his son is proving to be his natural successor. Tom has been on the bench & come on as replacement, but now he deserves the opportunity to play from the kick off”.

Skipper Ryan Lewendon is still unfit & is replaced in the centre by Bryn Llewelyn & scrum half Lewis Allan retains his place in the starting line up.

Weymouth & Portland second team play hosts to Ellingham & Ringwood 3rds.

Both matches kick off @ 2.15pm.

On Sunday fresh from their victories over the Royal Navy & RAF development squads, the Dorset & Wilts under 20 county representative side entertain their Hampshire counterparts also @ Chapel Gate Bournemouth with the match starting @ 2.00pm.

Weymouth & Portland first team squad;

Tim Comben, Dan Hayne, Tom Wildman, Kev Leatham, Ian Dixon, Tom Drummond, Dan Bowditch, Andy Bowditch, Lewis Allen, Khylo Farley, Norton Rogers, Bryn Llewelyn, Jonny Young, J Moncher, James Almond, subs:  Alex Toms, Karl Sankey and Ben Billington.
