Weymouth & Portland Rugby Club Press Release.

30/11/2016.

Dorset & Wilts Vase Final.

Swindon College Old Boys v Weymouth & Portland @ Warminster RFC Kick Off 2.00pm Saturday October 3rd.

The Seasiders travel to Warminster to lock horns with Swindon College Old Boys in the final of the Dorset & Wilts Knock Out Vase tomorrow (03/12/2016) with the game kicking off @ 2.00pm.

The Old Boys are on a roll of victories this season winning all 8 of their league games & sit proudly on top of the Berks. Bucks. & Oxon. Premier League table with an impressive record including 7 try bonus points, which means that they have scored 4 or more tries in all but 1 of the league outings.

They have outscored all of the other teams in their division tallying up 359 points for & have conceded the fewest, 102 against & warmed up for the final with a 102 points to 8 win @ home against Phoenix last weekend which shows the almighty task that Weymouth & Portland are to undertake if they are to return to Dorset with the Vase in tow.

The Seasiders manager Vaughan Carter said: “We start the game as underdogs, but not as big underdogs as their league table may suggest. I have no idea what the strength of competition in that division is as we don’t play any of the sides in it, the only datum that I can draw is we beat Lytchett Minster who lost to Bradford on Avon & then Swindon College beat them in the last round & that’s about it”.

I know that on our day we have enough quality in the squad to give most teams a game, we have a strong side out on Saturday & training this week has gone well, the lads seem up for it & looking forwards to the kick off”.

There are still a few places left for supporters on the coach on a first come first serve basis, all meet 10.30 am at the club.

There are no home games @ Monmouth Avenue on Saturday, but the England Australia game is on the big screen in the clubhouse.

On Sunday kicking off at 2.00pm Weymouth & Portland 2nd xv entertain Dorchester 2nd xv in the quarter final of the Dorset & Wilts Second Team Shield.
