Dorset & Wilts RFU Press Release.
The Twin Counties youngsters came up against a physically stronger RAF vx, but raised their game and emerged deserved victors in this pre-RFU County Championship warm up game.
For the second week in succession they found themselves up against players older by couple of years, however they did not allow themselves to be intimidated and put down an early marker when the forwards drove over the visitors try line with Swindon number 8 Maleli Naiova getting the final touchdown.
The try was converted by Royal Wootton Bassett fly half Connor Tomley putting Dorset & Wilts into a 7 points to nil lead.
The visitors struck back and punished the Counties indiscretions with two penalty goals to make the score Dorset & Wilts 7 points to the RAF 6 at the break.
After the turn round both teams had chances to add to their points tallies, but strong defence from both sides ensured their was no further scoring until the 75th minute of the contest.
Moments earlier a RAF back had been banished to the sin bin for speaking out of turn to the referee, now a man down and defending their own line the RAF were on the ropes, the Counties won the ball deep inside the visitors territory and moved possession wide to Wimborne left wing Max Clarke who out paced the covering defenders and touched down in the corner to seal the victory.
The game restarted only for the Dorset & Wilts to kick ball into touch to call an end to the proceedings.
