Weymouth & Portland Rugby Club Press Release.

The Seasiders kick off their Dorset & Wilts Division one campaign after winning promotion last season with a home fixture against visitors Oakmeadians tomorrow (Saturday 10th September kick off 3.00pm) and have two debutants in their squad.

Team manager Vaughn Carter said: “Ex-Dorchester flanker Ian Dixon and front row forward Dave Raules have both joined the club during the close season, however we will be without four first team regulars, my son, flanker George who has had an operation on a knee injury and is still three or four weeks away from full fitness, also back row player Tom Drummond is unavailable for a couple of weeks, scrum half Josh Cameron is away training with the Royal Navy and centre Bryn Llewendon picked up a neck injury at Bridport last week and we don’t want to risk him just yet ”.

“Oakmeadians will be a tough test for us, but all of the lads are up for it and having our first league game at home is a big advantage, all we want now is a big crowd of supporters to get behind and encourage the team”.
